Passionate about working with young adults, adults & families

India is passionate about working with adolescents, adults & families. Using practical therapeutic techniques she assesses difficulties that may be impacting leading a full life, engaging in work & / or studies.

India helps people to identify challenges as opportunities and use practical, grounded techniques to develop more happiness, self-agency, vitality and success. Her strengths are her ability to offer insight, compassion, unconditional support, and practical solutions, by working to implement simple, but highly effective techniques, to overcome difficulties.

She is highly skilled in assessing and intervening in autism & ADHD in young people and adults.

Autism Assessments

Autism assessments of adolescents and adults including a special interest in girls and women’s assessment. Women are often late to diagnosis because they are adept at masking (camouflaging their traits and ‘learning how’ to relate) at the cost of exhaustion and burnout.

Autism Intervention & Support

She is skilled in enhancing self and others’ understanding of neurodiversity and suggesting effective, grounded strategies that can be used immediately. These manage the elements of autism that are most difficult, for example sensory issues, melt downs, executive dysfunction, decision making, social interaction and coping day to day in a neurotypical world. Family Therapy

She is an expert in helping families with children who are on the spectrum. India is highly aware of the gifts and talents that young and older people on the spectrum have. For example, their focus, out of the box thinking and high levels of creativity. She also helps families to understand and accept their spectrum kids and provide the best environment for them to thrive. When working with adolescents, she integrates individual CBT with parenting techniques including strategies, for managing and changing challenging behaviour, meltdowns and shutdowns.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Another approach of India’s is a style of intervention called cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).  This is an evidence-based intervention that identifies and modifies self-defeating ways of thinking.

She works with people to create more realistic thinking styles, which lessen their anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. She enjoys the problem-solving components of CBT, and the fact that brief therapy, provides effective techniques, which can be used immediately to enhance life skills, focus, present attention friendships and happiness.

Sometimes CBT can be limited and she uses integrative, holistic approaches that target individual needs.

Unconditional Positive Regard

India also uses an approach called ‘unconditional positive regard,’ which means accepting people unconditionally, no matter what they think, feel, say or do. This creates a safe therapeutic environment to create a set of agreements each week, that reflect individual’s needs. These can include learning a type of social skill, assertiveness to address bullying, replacing self-critical thinking styles with more self-accepting thoughts, and behavioural strategies to increase self-confidence.

Brain Difficulties

India has often used the work of Dr Daniel Amen, who identifies social and emotional difficulties as brain problems which can be addressed with the correct approaches. The adolescents India work with find that identifying their anxiety and social challenges as brain difficulties and patterns which can be changed, lessens the stigma and shame often associated with these types of problem. Using these techniques has inspired them to rapidly change the quality of their lives.

Some Kind Words

I can’t believe how far we have come, my Mum has told me how much I have changed and wants to thank you too!

30 year old client with CPTSD, anxiety and Autism.

You are the first professional I’ve ever spoken to who I feel listens to me.

25 year old client.

Therapy has been more helpful than I could have possibly imagined!

49 year old late diagnosed Autistic woman.

Therapy has been so useful due to helping me process the diagnosis- you made me think even when I didn’t want to…I didn’t have a lot of emotional intelligence before working with you. Previously I could not see and understand being Autistic. Now I give myself the time and space to work it out if I don’t know what I’m feeling- it has been life changing.

34 year old woman.

You have helped ‘pull him out’ of his distress when others have tried to make him think like they do. He has had other psychologists and it has been a disaster and put him back months and years but you have helped him to heal.

Mother of a 22 year old young man who is on the spectrum.
